Residential Calligraphy Retreats
in Umbria, Italy
Join us in Rapicciano Italy for residential calligraphy retreats at Casa Verna, our beautiful house in Umbria, Italy. Nestled in a medieval village just outside of the town of Spoleto, we welcome you to join us, Brody Neuenschwander and Amity Parks for creative retreats focused on the lettering arts.
Our teaching philosophy focuses on intensive one on one guidance. Our classes are small, so you will see the teachers several times a day. We take fresh and innovative approaches to traditional calligraphy. We see calligraphy as a contemporary art form leading to personal expression. We will work with you to chart a course of personal artistic development.
During our retreats you will participate in dynamic and creative workshops. You will also have time for creating, exploring, socializing, recharging and nourishing your minds and bodies. Students will live in Casa Verna or the village of Rapicciano. Single and double rooms are available.
Casa Verna has proved to be a place where new friendships develop between people from all over the world.
Prices include accommodations, almost all meals, full time access to the studio, ten days of instruction, most art supplies and Umbrian excursions.
Class is limited to 10 students. Plus-ones are welcome.

Amity Parks
Amity Parks is a visual artist and calligrapher based in Missoula, Montana. With a deep
passion for the lettering arts, she has spent many years studying calligraphy through intensive weeklong workshops and private instruction with internationally acclaimed teachers. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tulsa and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Montana.
Amity’s work has been widely exhibited and published in both national and regional venues. A dedicated educator and active member of local and statewide calligraphy guilds, she frequently teaches workshops across the U.S. and abroad. Her teaching résumé includes serving on the faculty of multiple national and international lettering arts conferences.
Most recently, Amity has partnered with Brody Neuenschwander to host immersive, two-week calligraphy retreats at Casa Verna in Umbria, Italy. Her work and course information can be found on Facebook, Instagram, and at www.amityparkslettering.com.
